Plastratum Limited has been featured in the November 2021 issue of Surface World, the monthly magazine for the surface finishing industries.
The article describes how Plastratum provided the latest automatic finishing technology equipment for a major aerospace manufacturer.
A detailed evaluation of the parts and chemistry was undertaken to calculate the volumes of water required and suitability for recirculation, utilising ion exchange deionisation.
This extensive evaluation showed conclusively in favour of water recirculation and provided a water discharge saving of over 80% of the volume to drain.
There were several challenges in this project which are discussed in the article, but in particular the following were addressed:
- Specialist manipulation of a number of different parts through the same process tanks.
- <20µScm-1 rinse water for all processes.
- Temperature control could NOT be completed using electrical heating.
- Tight space limitations.
